Memorial Day Survey :)

As many of you know, today is Memorial Day in the US. Please take some time to appreciate those who have served in the military and those who are still currently in the military. These extraordinary men and women deserve respect and admiration for their courageous acts.

1. What are your Memorial Day plans? Today I worked on a outdoor painting project with a few friends and then had lunch at a local pizza place. Yum :)

2. Have you tried anything new in your beauty routine? I am switching from pressed powder to loose powder. The pressed powder was giving me too much of a *fake* look and I want to go with something more natural. Plus, I've been ignoring my kabuki brush for a little too long ;). Also I'm wearing my new Marc Jacobs Lola perfume, and it smells heavenly :D

3. What's on your perfect BBQ or grilled food plate? BBQ ribs, sweet corn, mashed potatoes, and fresh lemonade...which is not exactly what I ate today, but whatever :P

4. How's the weather out there? Eh, could be better. Summer's almost here and it's not hot yet! It's barely even warm. Today was sunny, but it was also windy and cool-ish. It's even supposed to rain later this week: AHH!!! This isn't supposed to happen in JUNE!

5. Soda, diet or regular? I'm trying to cut back on soda, but I always go with regular :). Diet = fake sugar = chemically + gross!!

6. 5 songs on your cookout/outdoor party playlist. Go!
  1. Kids by MGMT
  2. One Day by Matisyahu
  3. Kings and Queens by 30 Seconds to Mars
  4. Wretches and Kings by Linkin Park
  5. September by Earth, Wind, and Fire
7. Are you having an awesome day?! (You better be) Yes!! Relaxing and eating good food is a great way to spend a Monday :D!

Your turn! Copy, paste, and answer in the comments below:

Rimmel Crushed Pearl on Different Hands

Remember Rimmel Crushed Pearl and how I didn't like how it looked on me? And remember how I said it would look better on someone with dark skin? (If not, read here.) Well yesterday I finally had one of my friends with darker skin try Crushed Pearl, and it looks fabulous on her! I now present the hands of my best friend, NM, with Crushed Pearl on her nails:

OMG this looks SO much better on her than me! I absolutely love how it pops and glows against her skin tone. So pretty! I only did two coats on her; I should have done three for the full *Crushed Pearl effect* and to get rid of VNL, but I wanted to take pictures while the sun was still out. That also explains why the manicure isn't the neatest thing ever. I was rushing a bit and I didn't have time to clean up her cuticles a bit. Sorry about that, NM. I'll do better next time :).

I'm so glad I found someone who can pull off this polish! I know Crushed Pearl will be cherished and used fondly in NM's hands. :)

Little thing to smile for today: giving nail polish to friends! :D

LA Girl Live On Stage

It was so hard deciding what polish to use from my haul! But I decided to go with Live On Stage for my mani:

LA Girl Live On Stage is a warm medium gold shimmer with silver and gold microglitter and large round holographic glitter. Live On Stage is one of LA Girl's Rock Star polishes. The pictures don't even come close to showing the amazing *sparkly-glittery-metallic-reflective-ness* of this polish. In real life, it's seriously amazing. I was distracted all day by my nails :D! Opaque in two smooth, easy coats. Like most glitter polishes, Live On Stage dried really quickly. Also like most glitter polishes, however, this polish had a very gritty finish, even with a thick top coat. It really doesn't really bother me, though. I think it actually emphasizes and highlights the awesomeness of this polish.

Live On Stage is the first LA Girl polish that I've tried, and I'm absolutely loving it! :)

Little thing to smile for today: amazingly glittery metallic nails!! :D

Major Haul! :D

*Warning*: Long, pic-heavy post!

Over the last few weeks while I was on hiatus, I realized something. Maybe it's due to my shopaholic-ness, but I shop A LOT when I'm under a bunch of stress. I mean, I go shopping pretty often anyways, but these last few weeks I've been shopping like CRAZY! After studying or writing parts of my paper, I would feel the urge to either do some online shopping or physically go shopping. And you all know that when Ruthe goes shopping, money magically disappears from her wallet :P. I got a lot of new shoes, clothes, and, of course, beauty stuff; now I'll stop babbling and start sharing the makeup portion my haul(s) ;).

First up is just some drugstore stuff:

Loreal Blue Marine (left) and Yellow Seahorse (right)

Personally, I think Loreal polishes are pretty great. I also love their bottles. When I saw these two beauties from the new Summer Siren collection, I knew I just HAD to get them! I bought the turquoise one for obvious reasons, but I picked up the yellow one because I'm (strangely) getting into yellows and greens (I have no idea why...). This is my first yellow nail polish and I'm excited to see how it looks! :D

Next is the Sephora stuff:

Sephora by OPI Rumba Romance

This is such a pretty bronze/gold! I knew it wouldn't look good on me, so I got it to give to a certain special friend whom I knew this would look gorgeous on.

Wait, did that sentence even make sense?? Anyways...

The Body Shop Shea Body Butter

Again, this wasn't for me. I gave this to my mom as part of her Mother's Day/birthday gift (her birthday is right after Mother's Day).

Rosebud Perfume Co. Rosebud Salve (left) and Minted Rose Lip Balm (right)

I'm currently using Rosebud Perfume Co.'s Strawberry Lip Balm and I love it! Plus, it smells amazing. I was going to buy another Strawberry balm, but I decided to try their other scents. I mean, why not? :)

Tokidoki Prisma Lip Glosses

From left: SANDy, Bullets, Burger, Rocketeer

Sorry about the super-reflective photos. The packaging is just so freakin' shiny!

I absolutely LOVE Tokidoki Prisma glosses! The first one I ever got is Samba, a sheer peachy pink. Not only are Tokidoki Prisma glosses absolutely ADORABLE, they are super smooth, last a long time, and make your lips look full and smooth. Plus, every shade is super sheer, so no matter what color you get it will basically just be clear with a little bit of tint. I know a lot of people don't like this, but I think you can never go wrong with clear lip gloss ;). Also, Prisma glosses have a yummy but not overpowering blueberry scent, and the unique paddle applicator lets you use the exact amount of gloss you need, so you don't have to waste any product.

In addition to these four, I got a set of Prisma glosses:

Tokidoki Prisma Lip Gloss Set

From left to right: Donutella, Ciao Ciao, Arleccino, Diamante, and Adios

Again, the packaging is REALLY reflective!

This set is part of Tokidoki's new summer collection and when I saw it, I KNEW I had to have it! I just couldn't resist!

Last (but definitely not least), the Cherry Culture stuff:

LA Girl Millenium (left) and Graphite (right)

LA Girl Alkaline Blue (left) and Deep Sea Mica (right)

LA Girl Metallic Olive (left) and Antique Gold (right)

LA Girl Copper Alloy (left) and Addict (right)

LA Girl Double Platinum (left) and Live On Stage (right)

LA Girl Groupie (left) and Punk (right)

These two polishes are absolutely AMAZING!! Unfortunately, my camera couldn't pick up the awesomeness :(. Not only are these two glittery, they're duochromes!! Well, Groupie is. Punk is...wait for it...a *triochrome*!! It's too awesome to just flash two colors: it flashes three!! SO awesome!! :D

LA Girl Hustle (left) and Deejay (right

These two polishes glow under black light!!! I'm SO freakin' excited to try these out! :D

Milani Jewel FX Gems

DO YOU SEE THE AMAZINGNESS?!?!?? I have been lemming this for SO long, but I couldn't find it in any stores. To be honest, this polish may have been the underlying reason for me placing a Cherry Culture order.

And the last thing is just the free Cherry Culture lip balm that comes with every order:

This lip balm isn't horrible, but it isn't that great either. It doesn't go on smoothly, it doesn't hydrate well, and it doesn't last long at all. Also, the Bubble Gum scent is really strong, even though it fades after awhile. Basically, this lip balm is exactly what you would expect a free lip balm to be like.

This was my first time placing a Cherry Culture order. I was inspired to order from Cherry Culture by the lovely ladies of Swatch and Learn, Fiona and Mary. I just couldn't stand the temptation that came from their amazing swatches/reviews of LA Girl polishes! ;)

For the most part, my first order was pretty great. My package was shipped and delivered very quickly and all of the nail polish was safely packaged and protected in two layers of bubble wrap as well as styrofoam peanuts. The only thing I wasn't satisfied with was that my bottle of Hustle was clearly ALREADY USED. Unlike the other polishes, it wasn't full (you could see empty space in the bottle) and there was dry polish caked around the bottle opening. I was SO mad I immediately contacted Customer Service. They responded very quickly and were really nice about sending me a replacement. After I found out I got a crappy bottle of nail polish, I was so angry I never wanted to order from Cherry Culture again, but Cherry Culture has completely redeemed itself in my eyes. I look forward to ordering from them again! :)

Smile for new nail polish and great customer service! :D

I'm Back!! + Survey :D

Hey guys!
So I'm finally done with all my hard stuff. There's still some school left, but it's all gravy from here on :D.

I have a major post to put up very soon *hint hint* but first here's a survey:

1. Have you ever had a green smoothie? Oh eff no. Sorry, but those just gross me out! I know they're super super healthy and all, but I was scarred a few years back when my mom went through a "throw anything and everything into the blender" phase. I'm talking about smoothies with carrots, celery, beets, flax seeds, sesame seeds, corn peas, etc. Scarred, I tell you.

2. Do you consider yourself an "animal person"? Unfortunately, no. Animals (and wildlife in general) just kind of freak me out. I think this is probably because I never had a pet other than fish before. I mean, I totally support saving endangered wildlife, but I don't see myself getting a pet anytime in the future.

3. What's your favorite type of cheese? I'm not too familiar with the really specific types of cheese (it's all the same deliciousness to me!) but I really like mozzarella.

4. Lippie of the day? Covergirl TruShine lipstick in Blushberry Shine with Clinique Long Lasting Glosswear in Sunset on top.

5. Weekend plans? Well, seeing as this is the first weekend I don't have to stress out about anything, I'm going to RELAX MUCHO!!!

Your turn! Copy, paste, and answer in the comments:

It's so great to be back! Thanks to my lovely readers who stuck with me! :D I love you guys! <3

Short Post - M.I.A.

Sooo I haven't put up a nail post in a long while...I apologize about that.

Unfortunately, my sparse blogging will have to continue for at least two more weeks. This week, I had an extremely important and difficult test on Friday (SO glad it's over with!). Next week I have a term paper due and then the week after that I have a final, both for my hardest class. So, I'm not really going to have the time to be putting up posts or even doing my nails (*sob*!). Plus I've practically destroyed them during yesterday's test; I broke two nails right before the test started, and then I spent the entire test staring and picking at my poor nails :(. On a totally different subject, I think I'm going to go back to round nails since my nails have been breaking like CRAZY ever since I went square. It's mostly the corners that keep catching on things and breaking (*cry*).

Again, I apologize for the lack of posts, and I hope you'll all bear with me through the next few weeks while this blog is in hibernation :).

Little thing to smile for today: the return of summer weather! :D
